Oh man, 2023 was a real doozy for migrants, making waves all over the place!

В 2024 году тенденции остаются столь же тревожными. На Средиземноморском маршруте число погибших почти такое же высокое, как и раньше: с 1 января зарегистрированы 956 смертей.   

По данным ООН, каждая третья смерть среди мигрантов происходит во время бегства от вооруженных конфликтов. Более двух третей мигрантов, чья гибель была задокументирована, остаются неопознанными. 

Истинные цифры – выше

В МОМ отмечают, что из-за большого числа неопознанных погибших семьи и общины вынуждены подолгу бороться с отсутствием ясности в вопросе о судьбе своих родственников и друзей. На сегодняшний день, согласно данным Проекта ООН по поиску пропавших без вести мигрантов, не найдены останки 26 666 человек, погибших во время миграции.

«По имеющейся информации, за последние десять лет на миграционных маршрутах погибли почти 5 500 женщин, а число идентифицированных детей составляет 3 500», – прокомментировала последние данные заместитель Генерального директора МОМ по операциям Угочи Дэниелс. По ее словам, истинное число погибших женщин и детей, скорее всего, гораздо выше, так как общее число погибших мигрантов, о которых нет информации о поле или возрасте, составляет приблизительно 37 тысяч человек.

Призыв к созданию безопасных маршрутов 

По данным МОМ, каждый третий погибший мигрант, происхождение которого удалось установить, был родом из стран, охваченных конфликтами или имеющих на своей территории большое количество беженцев. Это свидетельствует о смертельных опасностях, с которыми сталкиваются те, кто пытается покинуть зоны конфликтов, не имея безопасных путей, подчеркивают в МОМ. Самым смертоносным маршрутом остается Центральное Средиземноморье, где с 2014 года погибли по меньшей мере 23 092 человека.

МОМ приняла новый стратегический план на 2024-2028 годы, главной целью которого является спасение жизней и защита людей в процессе миграции. Для этого миграционное агентство ООН призывает страны и других партнеров к совместной работе, чтобы положить конец высокой смертности среди мигрантов и устранить последствия гибели десятков тысяч людей на миграционных маршрутах по всему миру.
