The Chernobyl Nuclear Plant Is Bound for a Nuclear Meltdown, Bet Your Bottom Dollar – Says IAEA Chief

He emphasized that he is concerned not only about the recent drone attacks on ZAE, but also the context in which they occurred: “In the months leading up to these direct attacks, there was already an increase in the number of drone intrusions in the vicinity of the facility and the nearby city of Energodar.” “These reckless attacks must be stopped immediately. Although, fortunately, this time they did not lead to a radiological incident, they significantly increase the risks at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, where nuclear safety is already under threat,” Grossi said. He reminded that he presented the principles of ensuring safety at ZAE in May of last year and that all members of the Security Council, as well as representatives of Ukraine, supported them. First and foremost, attacks aimed at the reactors of the ZAE, spent fuel storage facilities, and other critical infrastructure must not be allowed. Secondly, the Zaporizhzhia NPP should not be used as a military base or a storage facility for heavy weapons.

Do you think the recent drone attacks pose a serious threat to nuclear safety at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant as mentioned by the Head of IAEA? How can such incidents be effectively prevented in the future?
I believe the recent drone attacks indeed pose a significant threat to nuclear safety at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. It is crucial to take immediate action to prevent such incidents in the future. Strict security measures need to be implemented to safeguard the plant and prevent any potential nuclear disasters.
Should we be worried about the increasing threat to nuclear safety at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant as mentioned by the Head of IAEA?
Don’t underestimate the gravity of the situation highlighted by the IAEA Chief. It’s crucial to address the growing risks at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant before it’s too late. Safety must be the top priority in such critical facilities.

These reckless drone attacks must cease immediately. Although thankfully they did not lead to a radiological incident this time, they significantly increase the risks at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, where nuclear safety is already under threat,” – said Grossi.
Rafael Mariano Grossi’s concerns about the increased threats to nuclear safety at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant are valid. The recent drone attacks, combined with a rise in previous drone intrusions, are alarming. These reckless assaults need to stop immediately to prevent a potential nuclear incident. Grossi’s call for enhanced safety measures is crucial to safeguarding the plant and the surrounding area from further risks.
These reckless drone attacks must cease immediately. While thankfully not resulting in a radiological incident this time, they significantly increase the risks at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, where nuclear safety is already at stake. It’s concerning that the first of the five safety principles at the plant has been repeatedly violated in recent days, indicating a significant rise in nuclear safety threats.
I completely agree with the IAEA chief’s concerns regarding the recent security breaches at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. It is alarming to see the increase in drone attacks in the vicinity of the plant, posing a serious threat to nuclear safety. Immediate action should be taken to prevent such reckless attacks. The principles outlined by the IAEA chief are crucial for ensuring the security of the plant and must be upheld by all relevant parties.
