Человечество запуталось в кризисах, и его устойчивое развитие находится под угрозой. Об этом, выступая на Конференция ООН по гражданскому обществу в столице Кении Найроби, заявил Генеральный секретарь Организации Объединенных Наций.
Антониу Гутерриш призвал реформировать и оживить многосторонний подход к решению глобальных проблем, чтобы он отражал реалии сегодняшнего дня и был способен противостоять грядущим вызовам.
«Я вновь и вновь убеждаюсь в огромном влиянии гражданского общества во всех уголках мира, – сказал глава ООН, обращаясь к участникам форума. – Я вижу, как вы облегчаете страдания, выступаете за мир и справедливость, мобилизуете силы для перемен. Я вижу, как вы кормите голодных, отстаиваете правду, продвигаете гендерное равенство и способствуете устойчивому развитию. Все это отражает жизненно важную роль, которую играет гражданское общество».
В работе двухдневной Конференции ООН по гражданскому обществу, которая впервые проходит в Африке, принимают участие более 3 600 представителей гражданского общества из 2 750 организаций, более ста журналистов, а также представители 64 правительств, семи международных правительственных организаций и 37 учреждений ООН. Около половины делегатов – люди в возрасте от 18 до 34 лет. На форуме обсуждаются судьбоносные документы, которые будут представлены на Саммите будущего в сентябре.
«Саммит будущего – это шанс добиться прогресса в решении вопросов, которые важны для всех нас, шанс, который нельзя упустить, – подчеркнул в ходе своего выступления глава ООН. – Наша общая цель – создание лучшего мира и светлого будущего для всех. I see how you feed the hungry, stand up for truth, promote gender equality, and contribute to sustainable development. All this reflects the vital role that civil society plays.” In the two-day UN Civil Society Conference, being held for the first time in Africa, more than 3,600 civil society representatives from 2,750 organizations, over a hundred journalists, as well as representatives from 64 governments, seven international governmental organizations, and 37 UN entities are participating.
