Палестина в ООН

В понедельник Совет Безопасности решил обратиться в Комитет по приему новых членов с просьбой вновь рассмотреть заявление Государства-наблюдателя Палестины о приеме в члены ООН. Соответствующий запрос представители Палестины направили в ООН на прошлой неделе. Перед официальной передачей дела Совбез провел закрытое заседание, чтобы обсудить просьбу Палестины повторно рассмотреть ее запрос о членстве, поданный 23 сентября 2011 года. Предложение о передаче в Комитет, сделанное послом Мальты Ванессой Фрейзер, председателем Совета Безопасности в апреле, не встретило возражений со стороны 15 членов этого органа. Палестина является государством-наблюдателем при ООН с тем же статусом, что и Ватикан.

Безопасность на ЗАЭС

Территория Запорожской атомной электростанции (ЗАЭС) в Украине была атакована беспилотниками в воскресенье. Генеральный директор Международного агентства по атомной энергии (МАГАТЭ) Рафаэль Мариано Гросси назвал это «серьезным инцидентом, который поставил под угрозу ядерную безопасность». По информации агентства, признаков повреждения критически важных систем ядерной или физической безопасности на объекте обнаружено не было. Гуманитарная ситуация в Газе 

Гуманитарные организации выражают обеспокоенность в связи с запланированным вторжением израильских сил в Рафах и серьезной нехваткой гуманитарной помощи в Газе. Жители Хан-Юниса, расположенного к северу от Рафаха, возвращаются в разрушенный город, несмотря на предостережения о том, что в городе нет продовольствия. Координатор по гуманитарным вопросам на оккупированной палестинской территории Джейми Макголдрик подчеркнул, что в Газу должны ежедневно въезжать 500 грузовиков с помощью, иначе в секторе в любой момент может начаться голод. ООН поддержала призывы к открытию израильского порта Ашдод к северу от сектора Газа и к увеличению поставок помощи через Иорданию.

Вето России и Китая

На пленарном заседании Генеральной Ассамблеи ООН в понедельник обсудили недавний случай применения права вето постоянными членами Совета Безопасности. Этим правом 22 марта воспользовались Россия и Китай при голосовании по предложенному США проекту резолюции по Газе. Дебаты были проведены в соответствии с резолюцией 2022 года, которая призывает к созыву Генассамблеи в течение 10 рабочих дней после наложения вето в Совбезе. Председатель ГА Деннис Фрэнсис призвал членов Совета Безопасности осмысленно использовать свои полномочия для поддержки немедленного и долгосрочного прекращения огня.
