How Ukrainian Women’s Strength Inspires Me as the UN Coordinator in Ukraine

По ее словам, женщины в Украине не сдаются и неустанно работают для будущего своей страны. 

Представительница ООН заявила о том, что украинки, которые не жалея сил преодолевают огромные трудности, чтобы помочь окружающим, вызывают у нее восхищение.  

Браун также отметила, что женщины составляют костяк системы гуманитарного реагирования и работают круглосуточно, чтобы помочь своим общинам. Она привела в пример женщину-врача в Северске Донецкой области, которая решила остаться там, несмотря на обстрелы, потому что в противном случае людям было бы некуда обратиться за медицинской помощью. 

«Я встречала так много матерей, которым пришлось научиться поддерживать своих детей, которые больше не могли ходить в школу, и в то же время ухаживать за больными, инвалидами и пожилыми людьми», – продолжила Браун.

«В Краматорске, Харькове и Ужгороде я встретила так много энергичных и вдохновляющих своим примером женщин, возглавляющих организации и движения, выступающие за права народа Украины и стремящиеся к тому, чтобы никто не остался без внимания, особенно самые уязвимые, в том числе люди с инвалидностью, народ рома или сообщество ЛГБТКИА+», – заявила она.

По ее словам, украинки сегодня прилагают усилия для решения важных проблем, и в то же время они сами сталкиваются с более высоким уровнем безработицы, гендерным разрывом в оплате труда, повышенным риском гендерного насилия и препятствиями в доступе к основным услугам.

«Женщины играют важную роль как за столом принятия решений, так и на передовой», – подчеркнула Координатор, добавив, что ООН готова поддержать ведущую роль женщин в ходе восстановления Украины.

Выступая в пятницу на заседании Совета Безопасности ООН, помощник Генерального секретаря Халед Хиари также отдал дань уважения украинским женщинам и девочкам, которые, несмотря на ужасы войны, продолжают работать во благо своей страны.

По его словам, благополучие украинок находится под угрозой из-за ограниченного доступа к услугам и экономическим возможностям, а также из-за риска сексуального и гендерного насилия.

Он добавил, что ООН будет сотрудничать с украинскими активистками и женщинами-лидерами, чтобы способствовать их равноправному участию в принятии решений и работе по восстановлению страны и установлению мира.
