«14-летний мальчик получил серьезные ранения и лишился конечностей после того, как открыл заминированную банку с едой, найденную во время поисков своих вещей в разрушенном доме в Хан-Юнисе», – сообщило Управление ООН по координации гуманитарных вопросов (УКГВ) со ссылкой на власти сектора. На фоне интенсивных израильских бомбардировок большей части сектора с воздуха, суши и моря целые кварталы были полностью разрушены. Извлечение тел погибших из-под обломков представляет собой огромную проблему из-за нехватки бульдозеров, экскаваторов и персонала.
«На извлечение тел с помощью имеющихся в наличии примитивных инструментов может уйти до трех лет», – заявили в УКГВ. На фоне повышения температуры воздуха неизбежно ускорится процесс разложения тел, что потенциально увеличит угрозу распространения смертельно опасных болезней.
«Кошмару в Газе нужно положить конец»
Призвав к прекращению военных действий, последовавших за террористическими рейдами ХАМАС на юге Израиля 7 октября, Исполнительный директор Детского фонда ООН (ЮНИСЕФ) Кэтрин Рассел заявила, что «кошмару в Газе нужно положить конец». По ее словам, почти все из 600 тысяч детей, укрывающихся сейчас в южном приграничном городе Рафах, «ранены, больны или недоедают».
«Более 200 дней войны уже убили и покалечили десятки тысяч детей в Газе», – добавила Кэтрин Рассел на фоне растущих опасений по поводу скорого начала полномасштабной военной операции Израиля в Рафахе.
1000-фунтовые бомбы
После вывода израильских войск из Хан-Юниса в прошлом месяце наблюдатели ООН сообщили, что улицы и общественные места в этом городе усеяны неразорвавшимся боеприпасами. Кроме того, были обнаружены 1000-фунтовые (450-килограммовые) бомбы, «лежащие на главных перекрестках и внутри школ».
