Сирийское население оказалось в очень тяжелой ситуации, заявили Специальный посланник ООН по Сирии Гейр Педерсен и представитель Управления ООН по координации гуманитарных вопросов (УКГВ) Рамеш Раджасингхам, выступая перед членами Совета Безопасности.
«События последних недель стали суровым предупреждением о том, насколько реальна угроза эскалации регионального конфликта. Гуманитарный кризис
По его словам, в последние недели в результате ряда нападений по всей Сирии погибли и получили ранения мирные жители, в том числе дети и гуманитарные работники. Кроме того, Сирия сталкивается с серьезными проблемами, связанными со взрывоопасными пережитками войны, отметил представитель УКГВ. Помимо опасности для жизни населения и негативного влияния на сельское хозяйство, наземные мины и неразорвавшиеся боеприпасы препятствуют безопасной доставке гуманитарной помощи.
Климатические потрясения еще больше усугубляют ситуацию: от сильных наводнений в Идлибе и на севере Алеппо пострадали более 15 тысяч внутренне перемещенных лиц. Раджасингхам подчеркнул, что с приближением лета возрастает риск засухи, а также распространения холеры и других заболеваний.
Представитель УКГВ отметил нехватку финансирования, из-за которой предоставление основных услуг находится под угрозой. Палестинские беженцы, пострадавшие от сирийского кризиса, также сталкиваются с сокращением объемов помощи.
Раджасингхам подчеркнул важную роль осуществления гуманитарной деятельности всеми доступными средствами, включая трансграничные операции, а также необходимость политического решения для прекращения конфликта: без такого решения гуманитарный кризис будет продолжаться.
