Big companies chipping in $9 billion to boost tech in poorer nations

Новые обязательства увеличивают общую стоимость запланированных инвестиций в инфраструктуру глобальной мобильной связи и интернета до более чем 46 миллиардов долларов.

«Создание всеобщей сети мобильной связи находится в пределах нашей досягаемости, – сказала Дорин Богдан-Мартин. – Благодаря новым обязательствам миллионы людей смогут пользоваться доступной и недорогой связью по всему миру».

Международный союз электросвязи объявил также о том, что в настоящее время в дополнение к 193 государствам-членам оно насчитывает более тысячи членов из числа представителей промышленных и научных кругов, а также неправительственных организаций. 

Среди прочего, на Всемирном мобильном конгрессе было объявлено о выделении шести миллиардов долларов на обеспечение доступной и недорогой связи и цифровых услуг в странах Ближнего Востока, Африки и Азии. Более 1,4 миллиардов долларов будут направлены на развертывание оптоволоконной сети в отдаленных деревнях по всему Китаю; 1,1 миллиарда – на обеспечение связи на развивающихся рынках на широком пространстве от Северной Африки до Индийского океана.

Международный конгломерат VEON объявил о выделении 600 миллионов долларов на модернизацию телекоммуникационной инфраструктуры Украины, обеспечение связи и цифровых услуг, необходимых для восстановления страны. 

По данным Международного союза электросвязи, во всем мире остаются без связи около 2,6 миллиарда человек. В связи с этим МСЭ призвал инвестировать 100 миллиардов долларов к 2026 году, чтобы обеспечить полноценной универсальной связью людей в каждом уголке земного шара.
