Anxious for a Game-Changing Initiative: Over 150,000 Ukrainian Students to Reap the Benefits
Новый грант в ходе брифинга в офисе ООН в Нью-Йорке представили министр образования и науки Украины Оксен Лисовой и исполнительный директор фонда «Образование не может ждать» Ясмин Шериф.
Лисовой и Шериф также призвали доноров срочно мобилизовать дополнительные 17 миллионов долларов для полного финансирования двухлетней программы.
«Сегодня у Украины есть желание и ресурсы не просто выживать, а развиваться. Именно поэтому нам важны расходы на образование как инвестиции в человеческий капитал, в развитие демократии, в сильное и стабильное государство», – отметил министр образования и науки страны Оксен Лисовой.

Последние данные показывают, что по меньшей мере 1,5 миллиона детей были вынуждены покинуть свои дома и остаются на территории Украины. Из них 225 тысяч – дети школьного возраста. Учителя тоже пострадали: по оценкам, 43 тысячам преподавателей пришлось бежать из своих домов в результате конфликта.
Дети, проживающие в наиболее пострадавших от конфликта районах, живут в страхе и часто лишены базовых услуг, включая доступ к качественной учебной среде. В ходе конфликта были повреждены или разрушены сотни учебных заведений.

Ожидается, что новое финансирование напрямую поддержит 41 тысячу девочек и мальчиков, и по меньшей мере 150 тысяч детей получат косвенную выгоду от инвестиций, особенно благодаря ремонту школ и учебных помещений.
