Членами олимпийской сборной беженцев в четверг были названы 36 спортсменов из 11 стран. Они будут соревноваться в 12 видах спорта в ходе Игр в Париже в этом году. Об этом сообщает Управление Верховного комиссара ООН по делам беженцев (УВКБ) со ссылкой на Международный олимпийский комитет (МОК).
Сборная беженцев, которая представляет интересы миллионов перемещенных лиц по всему миру, примет участие в Олимпийских играх в третий раз. По данным УВКБ, по состоянию на сентябрь 2023 года в мире насчитывалось около 114 миллионов человек, которые вынуждены были покинуть свои дома. Впервые сборная беженцев будет соревноваться под собственной эмблемой.
Состав команды был утвержден исполнительным комитетом МОК (ИС) на основе ряда критериев, включая, в первую очередь, результаты каждого спортсмена и его статус беженца, подтвержденный УВКБ. «Мы приветствуем всех вас с распростертыми объятиями. Вы обогащаете наше олимпийское сообщество и наши общества», – сказал президент МОК Томас Бах, обращаясь ко всем членам сборной.

Манижа Талаш из Афганистана будет представлять сборную беженцев в соревнованиях по брейк-дансу. Это один из четырех видов спорта, наряду со скейтбордингом, спортивным скалолазанием и серфингом, которые МОК добавил в программу Игр 2024 года.
По сообщениям СМИ, еще в 2021 году, за несколько месяцев до того, как талибы захватили власть в Афганистане и ввели строгие ограничения для женщин, Талаш была намерена стать участницей Игр в Париже. Теперь она будет соревноваться в новом олимпийском виде спорта в качестве беженца.
«Олимпийская команда беженцев должна напомнить нам о стойкости, мужестве и надеждах всех тех, кто был вынужден покинуть свои дома из-за войны и преследований. Эти спортсмены олицетворяют собой то, на что способны люди даже перед лицом экстремальных невзгод», – сказал Верховный комиссар ООН по делам беженцев Филиппо Гранди.
«Спорт может предложить передышку, побег от повседневных забот, чувство безопасности, момент удовольствия. Это может дать людям шанс исцелиться физически и психологически и снова стать частью общества», – добавил он.
