Всемирная продовольственная программа ООН (ВПП) в пятницу предупредила, что время для предотвращения голода в Дарфуре истекает, так как усиливающиеся столкновения в столице Северного Дарфура Эль-Фашере препятствуют усилиям по доставке жизненно необходимой продовольственной помощи в регион.

Ограничения со стороны властей Порт-Судана не позволяют ВПП перевозить помощь через Адре – второй из двух жизнеспособных трансграничных коридоров из Чада. Этот маршрут может обслуживать Западный Дарфур и другие населенные пункты провинции. Ограничения доступа ставят под угрозу планы ВПП по оказанию помощи более чем 700 тысячам человек в преддверии сезона дождей, когда многие дороги в Дарфуре становятся непроходимыми.
