Фолькер Тюрк призвал власти Грузии проявлять сдержанность в отношении демонстрантов

Верховный комиссар ООН по правам человека Фолькер Тюрк выразил обеспокоенность сообщениями о «неоправданном и непропорциональном» применении силы сотрудниками правоохранительных органов против демонстрантов и работников СМИ в столице Грузии на этой неделе.

«Тысячи грузин уже несколько дней протестуют против законопроекта о “прозрачности иностранного влияния”, и власти должны полностью соблюдать и защищать их права на свободу выражения мнений и мирных собраний, – говорится в заявлении Верховного комиссара. – Любые ограничения этих прав должны соответствовать принципам законности, необходимости и соразмерности. Применение силы во время протестов всегда должно оставаться исключительной и крайней мерой».

Фолькер Тюрк призвал власти Грузии провести оперативное и прозрачное расследование всех заявлений о жестоком обращении во время или после протестов, а также в заключении. «Все, кто был произвольно задержан за осуществление своих прав на свободу слова и мирные собрания, должны быть немедленно освобождены, – заявил он. – Обвинения против них также должны быть сняты».

Верховный комиссар призвал демонстрантов и организаторов протестов осуществлять свои права мирно и не прибегать к насилию, а власти Грузии – отозвать спорный законопроект и начать диалог, в том числе с гражданским обществом и средствами массовой информации.
